According to a recent Reuters statistic of analysts, it was concluded that on average they agree that Samsung has sold 88 million cellphones between the months of January and March, beating Nokia’s 83 million sales during this period. Nokia has held the number one cellphone seller rank for 14 years in a row and today Samsung has just beat it.

Nokia have recently announced their sales numbers and warned of losses in the first and second quarters. Samsung will release their sales numbers on April 27th.

Nokia has only been able to stay on top spot due to their dominance in the lower end feature phone market, but once the smartphone market took

off, they have been playing catch-up as higher end smart phones started getting less pricey.

According to the Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi , “but in reality it does not change anything: at the end of the day the problems are the same if they remain the No 1 or become the No 2.

We don’t really know how things will shape up in the future of smartphone market but what we’re mostly sure about is that Nokia is no more the king of phones as it used to be in the good old days.
